When I first started using Social Media I was apprehensive about jumping in with both feet. I only partially set up my LinkedIn and Facebook profiles, adding few details. You could get the gist of who I was, but there wasn’t really much there.
I requested to connect with a business coach after a networking event. She sent me a note telling me she would connect after I completed my profile.
I was schooled by the coach.
The saying in for a penny in for a pound is the reality of our online world. As soon as we start participating digitally our online identity becomes more open.
The issue of privacy is of great concern; however participating in social media is not the place to be too secretive. There is a reason it’s called social media. Do we attend cocktail parties with bags over our heads? We want to be there, but don’t want anyone to know we’re there?
Social media is an opportunity to showcase your business. Don’t be fearful of the consequences of completing your profile. The opposite is true. Your social profiles enhance your online presence so potential customers can get to know you and your business. That’s why you are there, isn’t it?
