She has a deep commitment to a daily mediation practice and a healthy, active lifestyle. She lives in the country and skis as many days as possible in the winter and enjoys the gifts of the South Georgian Bay area throughout the year.
While attending university, in 1980 Kirsty started Nightdecor, the first landscape lighting company in Canada. Over the next 15 years, under Kirsty’s guidance, a very far-reaching sales, marketing and education campaign was undertaken that established the landscape lighting industry across Canada.
Nightdecor expanded into importing, wholesaling and distributing different lines of lighting across Canada opening new markets for a large number of American manufacturers.
In 1999 Kirsty moved to the Collingwood area and continued in the lighting business as a lighting designer, supplier and consultant for large residential and commercial properties and municipalities.
During travels to various ski areas Kirsty noticed a distinct lack of durable decorative accessories so she invented Bling Snaps™, a line of collectible pin-type products aimed at the toy, promotional, travel and gift ware industries. Bling Snaps™ build upon consumer demand to personalize everyday items.
“Every once in a while you get a ‘Wow!’ experience with a company. Bling Snaps is one of those. I’m on the board looking after marketing for the Toronto Ski Club at Blue Mountain and we had an emergency need for Bling Snaps to identify each of our 4 House League Teams. Kirsty pulled it off amazingly fast and the finished result looked great. All of our brand colours matched perfectly and they were a HUGE hit with our many members. Thanks Kirsty. Amazing job!” Bob Nunn
Founder Of Georgian Bay Titans Rugby Football Club
In 2007 Kirsty and her son started the Georgian Bay Titans Rugby Football Club, the first rugby club in the Georgian Triangle area. Kirsty saw that rugby was experiencing an increase in participation throughout the province, but nothing was available locally, so she established the club where none had been before.
In the past ten years the club has experienced tremendous growth and has over 150 players, 5 teams, and 10 coaches. Kirsty has recently stepped down from her role as President.
