The dog days of summer are upon us, the lazy hazy days where the sun seems to float in the haze, the grass crunches and bugs bite.
Everyone seems to be on vacation, but still the small business owner sits at her desk trying to make the day seem at least somewhat productive.
Instead of treading the same sun-weary path over and over and getting nowhere, perhaps this is a good time to mix it up a bit! Step outside your comfort zone. Do something you have never done before or would not normally do in the course of your business day.
Post something different on one of your social media channels. Better yet, try a new one. Have you used Facebook live before? Snapchat?
Call someone out of the blue, you know that person you’ve wanted to connect with but have not had the guts to call?
Take a friend out for lunch and eat something different – don’t go for the tried and true, try something new.
Try a new flavour of ice cream, find a place to go swimming outside instead of going to the gym.
Mix it up.
You will be invigorated and the dog days will not seem so doggy after all.
Dog Days: the sultry part of the summer supposed to occur during the period that Sirius, the Dog Star, rises at the same time as the sun, now often reckoned from July 3 to August 11. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/dog-days
